Unlike the classic 911 sports car, the Panamera Turbo S sedan’s twin-turbo V-8 engine producing 620 horsepower is located up front. Choosing the more expensive Turbo S E-Hybrid increases horsepower to 689. This allows the Panamera Turbo S to compete with other high-powered sports sedans, including the Audi RS7, BMW M5, and Mercedes-AMG GT63. The handling is agile for a vehicle of this size, yet it lacks the 911 and 718 Cayman’s inherent balance. However, the Panamera surpasses these more specialized vehicles in terms of passenger space and luggage capacity. Now available on 2024 Panamera, Panamera 4S, and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid vehicles are the Platinum Edition package. The Sport Turismo wagon is more attractive to our eyes, but appearances are subjective. Dynamic LED headlights with four-point LED daytime running lights are standard on the Turbo S, as are LED taillights with a light strip linking the clusters. Standard equipment includes model-specific 21-inch wheels and a panoramic roof system.
The Panamera occupies an odd niche category in terms of size. It is slightly longer than the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63 S but not as long as the brand-new S-Class. The entire length is 198.8 inches, and the wheelbase is a fantastic 116.1 inches. With the long-wheelbase Executive variant, Porsche increases the wheelbase and overall length by 5.9 inches. It measures 56.2 inches in height and 85.3 inches in width with the mirrors folded out; the Executive models measure 56.4 inches in height. The Turbo S is slightly heavier than its predecessor, the Turbo. A vehicle with a curb weight of 4,691 pounds is not one that Colin Chapman would have loved. The Executive configuration of the Porker weighs 4,839 pounds. The extended wheelbase Turbo S E-Hybrid weighs 5,412 pounds.
Interior
You sit down in the 2024 Porsche Panamera Turbo S driver-focused cockpit, as you should in a real sports sedan, and the ignition is located to the left of the steering wheel, per Porsche tradition. The interior is significant, especially for taller drivers. Rear-seat capacity is likewise ample, particularly in the six-inch-longer Executive variants, which give legroom comparable to a limousine. The Turbo S has a class-leading 18 cubic feet of load volume. Please open the door, and everything inside the Porsche looks and feels every bit of its steep price tag. Its list of standard equipment is similarly lengthy and commensurate with its class, but as with any Porsche, its list of expensive options is comprehensive. Among the available modifications are leather-covered climate-control vents and a fire extinguisher. Possibilities such as massaging seats, ventilated seats, soft-close doors, four-zone automated climate control, and a power rear sunshade are more realistic. Its optional sport seats are contoured to perfection and have 18-way adjustment, which we find particularly appealing. The Panamera’s clean and minimalist center console resembles an Apple product, with its touch-sensitive buttons for tasks such as climate control. The all-touch technology can be demanding and challenging to operate while driving, but you quickly adapt.
Also reminiscent of Apple is the 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center of the Turbo S’s dashboard. Unfortunately, its infotainment system is not as user-friendly as it should be. Although the system has standard features like Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, its menus are overly complex. Its functionalities might be made more intuitive, making its use while driving annoying. The Panamera’s digital gauge cluster is compatible with the CarPlay system, allowing it to display navigation maps and other data in front of the driver. Pretty slick.
Engine
Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S generates 620 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. The Turbo S is not the most powerful vehicle in the lineup. The Turbo S E-Hybrid has 690 horsepower and 641 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of an electric motor. The Turbo S still reigns supreme in terms of sheer speed. This model comes with the Sport Chrono Package, including launch control. The Panamera Turbo S has a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, and the Panamera Turbo Executive has a 0-60 time of three seconds. However, numerous independent tests have demonstrated that it can accelerate even faster. Consider 2.6 seconds, which is faster than a supercar in EV territory. For both variants, Porsche claims a top speed of 196 mph. In each instance, the more powerful but heavier Turbo S E-Hybrid cars are a tenth of a second slower.
The Panamera Turbo S sedan comes standard with Porsche Traction Management, an active all-wheel drive with an electronic multi-plate clutch that distributes power between the front and back axles. The absence of a stupid drift mode, which is nothing more than an expensive means to destroy tires and end up on YouTube, is a welcome addition to Porsche’s high-performance premium vehicles. The Panamera Turbo S was never going to win any prizes for fuel economy, but it is at least segment average. The latest EPA figures for this Panamera indicate that the Turbo S may achieve 15/21/17 mpg city/highway/combined. This is not quite as efficient as the Alpina B7, the fastest variant of the BMW 7 Series, which has a twin-turbo V8 engine like the Porsche.
Even if only to determine if the electric motor makes a difference, comparing the Turbo S to the Turbo S E-Hybrid is worthwhile. According to the EPA, the hybrid model’s combined fuel economy is 48 MPGe, declining to 19 MPG when the battery is exhausted. It is also noteworthy that the plug-in hybrid can travel 17 miles solely on battery power. The gas-only Panamera features a big 23.7-gallon tank that can go around 400 miles before refueling. The hybrid’s fuel tank is slightly smaller at 21.1 gallons.

The 2024 Porsche Panamera Turbo S begins at an MSRP of $179,800. The MSRP for the Executive variant with a long wheelbase is $190,200. The price of the Turbo S E-Hybrid is $189,800, or $200,200, with the Executive trim. These prices exclude a $1,350 destination fee applicable to all sedan models. Other V8 four-door midsize sedans, such as the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63 S, may compete with the Porsche sedans but are far less expensive.
